7:00 PM at Oyster Bay Seafood Restaurant

Christmas is the most anticipated holiday in the calendar. And Christmas means having a party! hehehe So before we get tied up with our hectic schedules, we planned our Christmas Party ahead of time. We had our Christmas Party at Oyster Bay Seafood Restaurant last Saturday night.

At the urban sub-district of Bridges Town Square in Mandaue City, Oyster Bay Seafood Restaurant is situated. It is considered as one of Cebu’s best seafood restaurants. The Oyster Bay gives a by-the-sea ambiance which is very relaxing. It is surrounded by coconut trees, white sands, and small lagoon wherein small fish and sharks are the center of attraction.

The resto is known for serving fresh and lavish seafood, meat, and poultry dishes. They have wide array of dishes on their menu to choose from. Baked Oyster with Cheese and Garlic, Oyster Bay Adobo, Oyster Bay Paella and Crispy Dinuguan are some of their best-sellers.

Spot the difference! The early birds (T-B): Chris, AJ, Me and Georgette.

Dim-light dinner.

The center of attraction in the resto - the shark feeding.

They have several aquariums with live fish and seafood.

Appetizer:

Baked Scallop with Cream & Onion Sauce (Php 150) - I always order Baked Scallop with Butter and Garlic but this one is my new favorite. The main meat is so tender and juicy and the creamy sauce is so delightful.

Baked Scallop with Cheeze & Garlic (Php 150) - I can’t deny the fact that I am addicted to cheese and this one made my night! The cheese and the garlic are perfect pair to create a balance of sweet and little bit of sour taste.

Crispy Fish Sticks Wrapped in Kangkong (Php 110) - I thought they’re going to serve us a small-stick-size fish but I was wrong. It is a large serving of fish wrapped in kangkong, covered with bread crumbs and deep-fried. Everyone in the table raving about the Crispy Fish Sticks Wrapped in Kangkong as soon as they took their first bite. We liked the crispiness of the kangkong and the softness of the fresh fish inside.

Soup:

Cioppino (Php 195) -  It is a fish stew which is considered an Italian-American dish. This tomato-based soup gives a mild sweet and sour taste. Servings: 7-8 persons.

Salad:

Vietnamese Salad (Php 135) - Consist of bean sprouts, red bell pepper and onion paired with the special mango salad dressing. The bean sprouts and the red bell pepper are so fresh and juicy but it is best eaten by pouring the special mango salad dressing on it which gives more flavor. In fairness, you won’t noticed the onion. This is one of our favorite dishes at Oyster Bay. Maybe you are wondering why there’ s watermelon skin on the pic, that is to create a volume-effect to the small serving of the salad. I advise vegetarians to get this dish for them to enjoy Oyster Bay even more.

Main Dish:

Crispy Trotteror or Crispy Pata (Php 450) - One of my colleagues was disappointed since it was cut already into pieces when it was served. Said the essence of the Crispy Pata is gone. The meat is soft and tender but a bit-dry.

Oyster Bay Paella(Php 395) - Loaded with shrimps, clams, chorizo and crab. I’m a bit disappointed since it did not satiate my taste bud. It needs more spices to enhance the flavor.

Sweet & Sour Pork (Php 150) - All meat and less fat pork cut into smaller pieces, coated with flour ,deep-fried and overloaded with sweet and sour sauce. This is worth your penny.

Sizzling Bangus with Gata (Php 165) - Bored of your usual Sizzling Bangus? Oyster Bay has a new twist to your all-time favorite by adding creamy coconut milk on it. Their Sizzling Bangus is boneless so you can eat every part of it without worrying that you might get choke something and the skin tastes good, too.

Oyster Bay Adobo (Php 175) - This pork adobo is too sweet because of too much seasoning. But the crispy pork flakes is yummy.

Squid en su Tinta (Php 210) - Squid in adobo sauce, along with the ink, imparting a tangy flavour, with fresh chillies.

Pancit Canton (Php 210) - The comfort food. The serving is big but lesser meat(squid, shrimp and pork). It would be better if they add more meat on it then I would be happy and enjoy eating it.

Spicy Chicken in Coconut Milk(Php 150) - Simple chicken cut into cubes and cooked with creamy coconut milk. Good thing the spiciness is tolerable. We made a perfect choice of ordering this for us to all try.

Dessert:

Churros con Chocolate (Php 120) - is a fried-dough pastry-based snack. I was expecting that they will serve a crunchy Churros but this one, the dough is soft which is okay. The chocolate dip has milk in its concoction and if you want it too sweet, you can add sugar in it. I so love this and I can eat this throughout the day.

Trio Creme Brulee (Php 60) - The custard base are flavoured with caramel and purple jam.

Leche Flan (Php 45) - The Filipino custard. I so like this since this is serve cold. It is sweet and rich in caramel flavor.

The aftermath. Everyone really enjoyed the food.

The complete casts of CSAT Dept. (L-R): Me, Chase, Georgette, Richard, AJ, Dan and Chris.
